Here we go

Liam's on two wheels. Noah's not just going to stand by and let him get all the glory. He has a few tricks up his sleeve. Recently, he found his feet.

And today Noah caught Jenia a little off-guard with a new trick, but we got it on video. He just started rolling over like this tonight. Three or four times before bath.

Freedom!

Today was Liam's first day without training wheels! It was great. Just like with swimming -- no interest whatsoever in getting instruction from Daddy. Also like with swimming this year, he was completely reluctant to try it out until he was ready. I urged frequently, "Hey, let's take those off and practice!" and was almost always answered with a shrug, "Not today. Maybe later." Well, later was apparently today... This morning, he said, "Daddy, let's practice without my training wheels." We took them off, and he rode away -- just like that.

...Come to think of it, that's pretty much how he potty trained himself, after Jenia and I gave up and decided we wouldn't mind if he was the only 6th grader still wearing Lightning McQueen pullups. And, you know... That's more or less how he gave up the crib... That, and Jenia and I also were resolved to him being the only kid in his freshman dorm still in a crib. If you leave him alone, he pretty much figures things out, and if you push him too quickly... (well, it doesn't really go well, for anybody...)

-----------------------------------------------------

This first video is only the second "run" after we first took them off. The first was about 10 feet before I grabbed him... If you can't hear it, he's saying, "cheese" as he rides by (wanted to get a good picture, I guess).

-----------------------------------------------------

Listen closely to this video -- turn up the volume on your computer -- it's funny. You can hear him panting quickly as he pedals. He's so determined to beat his 8-year old buddy, Luke.

Halloween Pizza Party

We had our second annual Halloween pizza party in our cul-de-sac. It was a big turnout, the kids played for a while before they couldn't hold off any longer, no matter that it was bright as day outside...

Liam had a lot of stamina - he did not get tired, but when the pumpkin was so full of candy he didn't want to carry it, then it was time to go home. He also enjoyed handing out candy to the trick or treaters and asked that they announce their costume at the door. At one point he came running to the door in his underwear to catch a glimpse of some of the trick or treaters.

Needless to say, with all of the activity from the day, neither child slept particularly well last night and we are all a little more tired today. Liam can't wait until next year. For more pictures, check out the Keating Family Picasa Gallery (tap the link to the right of the screen!)

Halloween Parade

Here are some pictures of Liam's preschool class from the Halloween parade today at Liam's school...lots of great costumes - Pirates, Batman, Spiderman, Bob the Builder, Princesses, Supergirl, and my personal favorite - The Man in the Yellow Hat.

Liam's teachers dressed as Princess Leia (Liam said she was "someone from Star Wars"...kids these days...) and the wicked Queen from Snow White. The had a parade down the street and went trick or treating at the school. Needless to say, we had too much candy at it was only noon.

Halloween Morning

Liam is having a costume party and parade at school today so he got to wear his halloween costume to school. This was a big deal. Not to be left out, Noah sported the first of his two halloween outfits (thank you Grammy for the pumpkin hat!). If he spits up or poops up this one, there is another one waiting in the wings for this evening's festivities!

Our Boys

It is nap time at the Keating house, all is quiet...I thought I'd post some more pictures of Liam and Noah.
